Even with the crazy weather lately, Alabama is in full planting mode. Sweet Corn, okra, purple-hull peas and the best home-grown tomatoes you’ve ever tasted . . . . not to mention ripe blueberries, juicy watermelons, cantaloupes, and just about every kind of pepper under the sun, etc., etc., will soon be available all around us (we are so very spoiled!)
While a quick stop at the local mega-mart can fill your buggy with multi-colored, insta-produce any time of the year – savoring home-grown goodness, right at the peak of flavor (yes, there is a real difference) requires a trip to the local Farmer’s Market or road-side stand.
