  • America's First Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial institution owned by its members. It's easy to become a member at America's First. Because America's First is a community chartered credit union, you can become a member if you live, work, worship or attend school in one of the following counties in Alabama:  Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, or Walker.

You are also eligible if you live, work, worship or attend school in Calhoun County or certain areas of Mobile and Talladega counties.

Membership is extended to immediate family members of all current members of America's First.

Once you have confirmed your eligibility, download a PDF of our application, fill it out completely, and mail it to Member Services, P.O. Box 11349, Birmingham, AL 35202 or bring it to any branch along with the following:

    • Check made payable to AFFCU for the initial $25 deposit required to establish your membership (We can accept cash in person)
    • Picture ID for each signer on the new account (please include a legible photocopy if mailing)
    • If your current address differs from the address on your picture ID, you will need to provide proof of current address (i.e. power bill, phone bill, etc., must be original-not photocopy. We will return the original to you)

You can also e-mail your application and supporting documentation to memberservices@amfirst.org. If you have additional question about membership give us a call at 205-320-4000 or toll free 1-800-633-8431.

If you would like to add or delete a joint owner of an account, download and complete the Joint Account Agreement.

Important Information about procedures for opening a new account: Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record all information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.
